CSR as corporate philanthropy

Philanthropy is a common CSR initiative for many corporations.

Many corporations provide charities and nonprofit organizations with financial aid. This aid is given to many different areas, including social welfare, the arts, and education.

Case study: Coca-Cola

In 2013, a devastating earthquake struck Ya'an, Sichuan.

Following the disaster, Coca-Cola mobilized its resources across Sichuan and Chongqing to provide relief.

They increased production of bottled water and shipped it to the affected area.

In addition, the company donated 8 million yuan to the China Women's Development Foundation.

The goal was to provide aid to women who were affected by the earthquake..

Through these CSR initiatives, Coca-Cola greatly improved its brand image and long-term profitability.
