5.What’s your idea about starting a business of your own?

A:I hear you’re considering starting your own business.What kind of business do you have in mind?

B:Business ideas are all around me.But I don’t know what product or service I might sell.

A:Many business ideas always come from a careful analysis of market trends and consumer needs.

B:Let me see.How about a textile company?

A:Why are you planing to start up a textile company in that developing country?

B:You see,even here in the United States textile companies are turning a profit with huge labor costs.We could do the same thing in that country at a fraction of the cost because the labor there is much cheaper.

A:That’s a good idea.But Starting and running a business can be a lot of work.Can you handle the risks that go with a business' ups and downs? B:Of course.I have got ready for it.

A:It couldn't be better.Wish you are plain sailing ! B:Thanks a lot.

6.Is China becoming an old-age society?

A:Hi.Do you agree with the idea about China is becoming an old-age society?

B:Yes.I agree with it.China is facing the severe challenges of population aging now. A:In your opinion,what is the main cause of the result ?

B: I think the family-planning or one-child policy is one of the reasons. A:So do I.Also,the rapid economic development, continuous increases in living standards and the improved medical service have all contributed to the increasing average lifespan. This can cause a lot of problems. B:What’s

more,Few young people have to support more old people. The larger elderly population requires more social security spending, special public facilities such as homes for the elderly and nursing homes, and more

medical services, which are a heavy burden on society. A:That’ so bad.What can we do to solve those problems?

B:To deal with the challenges, we must develop our economy to accumulate more funds so as to establish a sound social security system and old-age insurance system. A:Anything else?

B:Yeah,maybe we also need to establish more public facilities for senior citizens.


7.What problems can poverty cause?

A:Hi.In your opinion, what problems can poverty cause? B:I think poverty may lead to many problems. Because of a shortage of money, sick people can't afford to go to the hospital, children can't afford to go to school.

A:Yes,I agree with you.Also, some jobless people live far below the poverty line.This is really a sad topic.

B:Worse still, some needy people may become so desperate that they hate society and commit crimes or suicide.

A:Can you think of any solution to the problem of poverty?

B:First, I think government should provide the poor the basic necessity for life, such as, clothes and food. Second, the rich can donate their money to the poor. Third, government should create more job opportunities for the poor, so that they can join the market economy and earn money by themselves. Last but not the least, education can change fate, the children from the poor should receive education and study hard.

A:Yeah.Poverty can be eliminated by generating more employment, raising the level of education, drawing upon the resources of every social institutions, and so forth. B:But it can not be resolved within a short time.

A:However,we should still believe that it will be better soon . B:Maybe you are right.
