摘要：Context-dependency in the Cross-cultural Transmission of Pofitical Teminology Based on the Engfish Translation of Zhongguo Meng LIU Hong-wei Abstract： In the cross-cultural transmission of political teminology, linguistic form optimization and function equivalence are the basic principles. However, accurate mastery of the essence of the political teminology is inseparable from the understanding of and emphasis on its context-dependency feature, which is demonstrated at two layers, i.e. lingugistic context dependency and non-linguistic context dependency. Studies home and abroad on the English translation of Zhongguo Meng concentrate on two predomimantly adopted expressions, i.e. China Dream and Chinese Dream, while the latter is considered a better option. Chinese Dream, American Dream and European Dream are similar in the linguistic form, but different in the connotation, each representing a distinct historical period. Knowledge and acceptance of the non-linguistic


context plays a significant role in the proper comprehension of political teminology in the cross-cultural transmission. Key words： political teminology; cross-cultural transmission; context-dependency
