Data Science, also known as Data-Driven Decision Making, is the emerging field of study that combines mathematics, statistics, and computer science to identify patterns, develop and analyze models, and draw statistically valid conclusions from a variety of sources. It is a field of analysis that allows organizations to gain insight into

complex problems and develop strategies that are informed by real data.

Data Science consists of four primary segments: Structured and Unstructured Data, Visualization and Exploration, Analytical Modeling, and Big Data. Structured and Unstructured data are the raw materials of Data Science and encompass data coming from both internal and external sources. This includes text, emails, web pages, scientific measurements, or any other type of raw information. Once the data has been gathered and consolidated, visualization and exploration can help to analyze the data, identify

patterns, and determine trends. Then, analytical modeling, usually based on probability and statistics, can help to develop and optimize data-driven solutions. Finally, big data involves the examination and utilization of extremely


large amounts of data, often from multiple sources, to develop new insights and develop new solutions.

Aside from the primary components of data science, the field also incorporates several other disciplines such as Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Artificial Intelligence. By incorporating these fields of study, data scientists can more effectively analyze data from multiple sources and understand how the elements relate to one another.

Data Science is becoming a powerful tool in every field of study. Through data science, organizations can carefully analyze data to make better decisions and identify problems that may have gone unnoticed. This quickly emerging field is revolutionizing the way organizations approach challenges, helping them to become more efficient, productive, and cost effective.
