Abstract



This paper aims to interpret Charlotte Bronte’s representative work Jane Eyre from the visual angle of feminism. It discusses: First, the features of feminism reflected in Jane Eyre including the following four aspects: exposing and resisting the oppression of male chauvinism; portraying not an angel in house but an image of woman survivor; expressing woman’s feelings bravely, and searching for love on the basis of equality. Next, the role of horrible environmental description established by Gothic style in the novel for stressing the theme; finally, the limitations of feminism view in Jane Eyre and the two origins: the historical causes, and Charlotte Bronte herself. On the basis of previous opinions, it comes to the conclusion that Jane Eyre is a novel that describes women’s pursuit for independence, freedom and equality.

摘 要

本文旨在从女性主义角度诠释夏洛蒂·勃朗特的代表作《简·爱》。它讨论以下问题：首先，体现在这篇小说中的女性主义特点，它包括四个方面：揭露男权主义社会对女性的压迫，表现女性的抗争；突破英国维多利亚时期“家庭天使”模式塑造女性强者形象；大胆、率真地描写妇女的真实感情；勇敢追求平等的爱情。其次，分析哥特式写作手法对表现女主人公强者形象所起的作用。然后，探索《简·爱》中女性意识的局限性及其根源：历史原因及夏洛蒂·勃朗特自身原因。最后得出结论：《简·爱》是一部由女作家所写的表现女性追求独立、自由、平等的小说。
