Introduce a movie by using attributive clauses

Show some pictures of movies which are popular among the students. Each movie is followed by a sentence which briefly introduce the movie by using an attributive clause.

You Are the Apple of My Eye is an excellent movie which teaches us to cherish puppy love and youth. Three Idiots is an encouraging movie which teaches us to make efforts for our interest. The Flowers of War reminds us of a tough period when Chinese met with great sufferings. Love Me If You Dare reminds us of our childhood when we lead a happy and free life. Avatar shows us a planet where we can enjoy beautiful scenery.

The Day after Tomorrow shows us a world where we face various disasters.

Purpose: To draw the students’ attention to the topic of this class---introduce a movie by using attributive clauses. The pictures of the popular movies can arouse the students’ interest in learning grammar, which can become a good start.

Step 2: How to introduce a movie (6’)

1. Read and discover: what should be included when you introduce a movie

I am honored to introduce to you a great movie whose name is I Robot. Directed by Alex Proyas , the movie came out in 2004, in which Will Smith and Bridget Moynahan played leading roles. It tells us about a detective called Spnoor who saved the human beings out of the control of the robots.

I will never forget the scene where Spnoor jumped out of the motorbike, shooting at the robots. The reason why I recommend this movie is that not only is it thrilling and imaginative, but also it leads me to thinking about the effects of the scientific technology on human beings. We can conclude from the above passage: (1). Basic information The name of the movie

(3). The most unforgettable scene

(4). The reason why you recommend the movie

2. Reread the passage to pay special attention to the attributive clauses.

Purpose: To make the students discover what kind of information they should cover when introduce a movie and make them aware of the effectiveness of using attributive clauses to describe something or someone.

The reason why I recommend this movie is that it teaches us to try our best to achieve our dreams, because anyone can be anything.
