Hello everyone,

Many people prepare for Christmas the whole month of December. Our church was all decorated yesterday with a Christmas tree, advent wreath, poinsettias, green swags with red bows and lots of tiny lights. So, I am going to try sending Christmas readings each day this month.

Have you ever had your English students try to make up an alphabet poem?

A is for apple, so red and sweet B for blueberries we love to eat...

Today I'm going to start our Christmas listening practices with An Alphabet of Christmas.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Do you know the Alphabet song?

A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L,M,N,O,P,Q,R,S,T,U,V,W,X,Y and Z. Now I know my ABCs, next time won’t you sing with me.

Many children learn the order for their ABCs singing the alphabet song. Another common way in America for children to learn the alphabet is with picture books. “A is for apple” with a picture of a big red apple. “B is for ball, C is for cat, D is for dog.”

Since the alphabet is where most children and their teachers begin, let’s start a month of Christmas listening practice with “An Alphabet of Christmas” from A Story a Day ‘til Christmas.

A is for Animals who shared the stable.

B for the Babe with their manger for cradle. C for the Carols so blithe and gay. D for December, the twenty-fifth day. E for the Eve when we’re all so excited. F for the Fun when the tree’s at last lighted. G is for Goose which you all know is fat. H is the Holly you stick in your hat.


I for the Ivy that clings to the wall. J is for Jesus, the cause of it all.

K for the Kindness begot by this feast. L is for Light shining way in the East. M for the mistletoe, all green and white. N for the Noels we sing Christmas night. O for the Oxen, the first to adore Him.

P for the Presents Wise Men laid before Him. Q for the Quiet of this holy Eve

as God’s greatest blessing we all did receive. R for the Reindeer leaping over the roofs. S for the Stockings that Santa Claus stuffs. T for the Toys, the Tinsel, the Tree. U is for Usthe whole family. V is for Visitors bringing us cheer. W is Welcome to the happy New Year. X YZ bother me! So now To you all, wherever you be, A merry, merry Christmas, And many may you see!
